Nozzle Spacing Is A Small Detail That Changes Fountain Shape

Jun 25, 2026 Leave a message

Nozzle spacing sounds like a small detail, but it can change the whole fountain effect. If the nozzles are placed too close, the water columns can hit each other and the pattern becomes unclear. If they are too far apart, the fountain may look thin, especially when people watch it from the edge of a large square. For dry deck fountains, spacing also affects walking comfort because every nozzle opening sits in the paving. The opening should not sit in a place where people often stop or turn suddenly.

The right spacing should be checked with spray height, pump pressure, drainage speed, and the shape of the ground. A music fountain may need spacing that follows the rhythm of the show, while a quiet garden fountain may use fewer nozzles and lower water height. Clear spacing also makes future maintenance easier. Workers can find a blocked nozzle faster when every point has a fixed position on the drawing. If the pipe layout is planned at the same time, the water pressure can be more balanced across the whole fountain. This is why nozzle spacing should be checked before pipe work starts, not adjusted at the end. It saves time and keeps the final water pattern closer to the design plan.
